Four Year Anniversary is Dead

[Don’t forget to vote for my band every day at the GTR Online Battle of the Bands!]

Another year hone and Beta is Dead is now four years old! I can barely believe it myself; four years is a long time, especially for just writing about random stuff. Theoretically a kid may have started reading this blog in 2010 and now by 2014 could be a legal adult. That is how old this blog is. It’s weird to look back on the last four years and realize how different things are for me compared to back when I first started.

I wish I could say that I’m still jazzed to be doing this blog but, as regular readers might have guessed, 2013 was very difficult for me on a personal level and the blog greatly suffered as a result. This is a hobby and a very time consuming one as well. It’s a lot of work with little reward and in fact the reward seems to get smaller every year. For the first time since I started this blog I feel like I may not have it in me to keep it going for the long haul. That said in the short term there’s nothing to worry about if you’re one of the increasingly small number of regular visitors and, who knows, perhaps when I do my annual Black Superhero Month in a few weeks I’ll feel a little better about things. Should I decide to call it quits with Beta is Dead I’m fairly sure I’ll be giving advanced warning.

Enough doom and gloom. More anniversary stuff after the jump.

Somehow the most visited page this past year was Big Emperor Demonic Kingly Devil King which got over four times as many hits as the second highest page which I find bizarre. I mean, I hate that show and yet the sheer amount of traffic it’s brought to this blog is larger than anything else these days. Oh and also according to Google it appears that most of that traffic are people looking for Demon King Daimao porn. For shame. There’s no porn here, folks. Never was, probably never will be. (I know I say this every year but I’m angry about it every year too!) On a less gross note my profile on Cyborg for the Black Superhero segment I do was the new blog of 2013 with the most hits and at no point did I notice any “Cyborg Porn” searches (though now that I typed that I expect I see more of it).

I would not mind if this show went ahead and burned in hell
2013 was not a great year for the blog as I ended up with the fewest number of articles since 2010. I was unable to write more anime and comic book blogs. Heck I barely did any rants last year either. I’ll try to do more this year but I find that promises usually end badly when it comes to this blog so I’ll leave it at “I’ll try”. I also wanted to start doing video reviews starting last year (this was the secret project I alluded to a few times) but things kept not going right with the filming and now I have to give it up until I can find the spare dough to afford a new camera. I’m not sure if anyone would have been interested in that but I was pretty gung-ho with it for a while. I don’t know if I have it in me to do it now. That’s something you do when you actually have a stable housing situation.

Anyway thank you so much for staying with me these last four years. I hope you’ve been somewhat entertained by all the babbling and ranting. I will keep it up as long as I can. As far as this month goes my Top Ten Movie list has obviously been delayed and the Battle of the Atom reviews still need to be finished. Before that in the next couple of days in celebration of the anniversary I will be posting a new Nerd Rage, as I usually do every year. But this year it will not be about Stephanie Brown…mostly because not enough relevant things happened since last year.

  1. Hey Beta,

I'm still here, and still reading your blog whenever you post something new. Just wanted to let you know that I've enjoyed it, and I hope you'll stick around, but if not then good luck with whatever comes next!

  2. I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm searching for "cyborg porn" I'm not thinking of the DC superhero
